a review of SAVED by ryan jensen
This past Wednesday, I went to the see the new Mandy Moore movie, SAVED, at a theater in Bethesda. It was a very interesting and thought-provoking film.
The day before, my friend Steve and I played an afternoon's worth of tennis at some courts by his house in NW DC. For the past few months, after finding out that Mandy broke up with her tennis-playing beau (now ex-beau), Andy Roddick, I have been training diligently in order to win her heart. But I don't know if it is going to work.
The problem is that I'm just not that good. And I doubt I will ever be very good. I'm too tall, not quite as agile as I once was, and I've messed up my form by playing too much racquetball. Sadly, I lost to Steve in our match on Tuesday, and he isn't even semi-pro, let alone a champion.
And I wonder if my approach is wrong. Maybe she's tired of the tennis scene. Maybe she prefers a more manly sports figure, or maybe she has abandoned athletes altogether. I suppose I could try to procure her adoration by other methods. Maybe she is looking for a musician after all. If Renee Zellweger could fall for Jack White, then I think that I have a chance with Mandy Moore. Who knows?
Well, Mandy, if you are reading this, I didn't really like the character you played in your most current movie, but I will accept and love all of you. If you are free this weekend, please read below for information regarding a couple of shows that I will be playing. I will dedicate a song to you. I promise
