Vote or Die

Washingtonpost.com's 2006 Best Bets ballots came out today, and while we (naturally) hope you'll punch us for "Coffee Shop," (let's keep it chad-free, baby) thought we'd share some of our own faves from the nominee lists:

Cheap Eats : Pho 75 - multiple locations. Pho has crack in it. It must, cuz I'm having withdrawl symptoms right now while typing this.
Vegetarian : Amsterdam Falafel Shop - 18th St, Adams Morgan. GREAT falafel, and there's a topless woman on the wall. Two great tastes that taste great together!
Italian : The Italian Store - Lee Hwy and Spout Run Pkwy - For sammiches or pizza slice...
there's no other choice. If you never stood around for 20 minutes, trying to come up with ways to create counterfeit "Please take a number" number-tags, you will at the I-Store.
Kid-Friendly & Pizza : 2 Amys - One of the crown jewels of DC food... and completely accessible.
Steaks : Ray's the Steaks - Not just a witty play-on-words.
Take-out : Moby Dick's House of Kabob - It's like those jumbo-slice places in Adams Morgan, but instead of angsty middle-eastern guys serving freakishly large pizza, it's angsty middle-eastern guys serving yummy kabob. Love those napkin dispenser/machines!
Neighborhood Bar and Place to Hear Live Music : Galaxy Hut - Didn't make the WP.com list, but eff that... it's the official bar of murky coffee.
Hike/Bike Trail : Old Rag - A great day-hike, with some (very mild) rocky spots that will make you feel like a badass (but only in your own mind).
Place to Take Out-of-towners : Eastern Market - Yeah... for the coffee ;-)
Golf Course : Congressional Country Club - Someday, right? Just proves the fact that people nominate these spots a lot of the time without having ever set foot in them. I mean, how many people have actually made it out to the Inn at Little Washington?!? Congressional is the most prestigious country club in the area, and it's on a reader-poll list?
Home Furnishings : Ikea - A little european boutique shop we came across once. The best part about it is that everything's disposable... it's guaranteed to fall apart within 18 months, or your money back... I think.

Oh, and while you're at it... vote for Intelly too!
