Updates
Thanks to all who joined us for last night's event. We had over 80 people crammed into the Arlington shop's main area, with Espresso Aida flowing courtesy Ryan G's mammoth paws, and
Finca Mauritania on tap, supervised by Mr. Ultimo. The shrimp cocktail outlasted the cocktail sauce, just as we had planned (muahaha).
Aida Batlle offered an enlightening presentation, recounting her short but prodigious career as a coffee producer in El Salvador. The audience asked great questions about Aida's farms, about the coffee industry, and about her relationships throughout the coffee world. Peter Giuliano, our beloved coffee pedagogue, provided insightful context to Aida's message.
All in all, a good time was had by all.
Coming next week is "El Salvador Santa Ana - Aida's Grand Reserve Peaberry," a sensational coffee that will be one of the milestone coffees that we will celebrate and remember (like last year's Kenya Tegu). At $45 per 12 oz. bag, greatness isn't cheap, but we wouldn't offer it if we didn't know that this coffee deserves such distinction.
As with any of our whole-bean offerings, feel free to ask a murky staff member for advice on handling, storage, grinding, and brewing of our coffees. Any one of them will be happy to answer your questions, or refer you to someone who can.
Also coming soon, a fairly rare but wonderful tool to brew coffee: the Eva Solo Cafe Solo brewers. Similar to a French Press, but with a modern and sophisticated twist. Just in time for this year's holidayz.
Thanks for everyone's continued love!
