Congrats to our Katie!!!
Our beloved general manager, Katie Carguilo, was yesterday crowned the 2007 Mid Atlantic Regional Barista Champion.
She out-barista'd a field of 18 coffee experts from around the region (DC, MD, DE, PA, and NJ) at the competition held at Bear Creek Mountain Resort in Macungie, PA.
Her finals-round signature drink was called "Caffe Gargiulo" (the actual Italian spelling of her last name before the lackeys at Ellis Island butchered it for her ancestors), and involved espresso, chocolate, cherry-juice, and a whipped layer made from softened pistachio gelato.
With an unprecedented two regional titles in the same year, Team Murky looks on toward May 4-7 for the US Barista Championship, where both Katie and I will be automatically seeded in the semifinals round (of 25).
So if you see Katie, congratulate her, and wish us luck as we prepare for the national championship!

just put the trophy in a safe place. for some reason people at the shop can't keep their hands to themselves--and I think it's before they have any coffee!
