Home barista training
We at murky coffee are not just about serving you the best coffee and espresso drinks known to mankind... we're about teaching the world about what great coffee is.

With that in mind, we're pleased to offer "murky coffee barista training." Whether you're a home enthusiast or a professional-in-training, and regardless of your skill level, you'll learn what it takes to prepare world-class espresso and espresso drinks from a culinary-art perspective. The hands-on portion of the class will take place on our 3-group La Marzocco espresso machine, giving participants the opportunity to test-drive world-class commercial gear.
Topics will include:
- Basic "coffee 101" information
- Basic equipment selection and maintenance
- The raw materials: coffee, milk, accessories
- Pulling shots
- Proper milk steaming
- Latte art
- Drink building
We will be offering two versions of this three-hour class: a group-class (with up to six per class), and a "private instruction" class. Fees will be $150 per person for the group class, and $215 for the "private instruction."

Private instruction sessions can be scheduled around your needs, and include the option to bring your own espresso machine and/or grinder to receive instruction on (in addition to hands-on time on our training machine). Private instruction sessions at your location is also available.

Instructors will include US Barista Championship certified judges and our award-winning barista competitors. Each participant will receive a bag of our coffee to take home with you. Participants with home machines will also have the opportunity to get "fitted" for a custom-engraved professional tamper (from Reg Barber: coffeetamper.com), if you bring your home machine's portafilter (the cost of the tamper varies based on options selected).
